The revival phase, so to speak, came during the early 20th century, with the dictator Park Chung-Hee leading the 'brigade', an effort that is still continuing to revive the city and bring it back to its past glories. The outlying districts of Gyeongju are quite another part of history and culture that must be experienced in order to know the destination in all its essence.
